DJI mini 3 vs DJI mini 3 pro, which is the better drone for you?

DJI is a brand name that is synonymous with drones aimed at content creation. As a
creative professional or even as someone who pursues this as a hobby, you will
definitely think twice before spending hefty sums on top-end equipment like drones.
Here are two of the latest releases from DJI: The Mini 3 and The Mini 3 Pro.
Both of them as their names suggest are surprisingly compact drones that are really
easy to travel with and use. However, a few factors make the Pro a differentiating
product, especially for professionals.

Starting off with their physical dimensions, The:
Mini 3: Measures 148 x 90 x 62 mm and weighs about 249g.
Mini 3 Pro: Measures 145 x 90 x 62 mm and weighs 249 g.
Both are lighter when compared to other products in the market and the
weights will depend on which battery you use. The Flight Battery plus will
provide a longer flight time but will come at the cost of an increased weight,
which in some harsh conditions is actually an advantage.
Camera and Video: This is where the true differences are vivid.
Mini 3: The camera sensor shoots at 12 MP and has a fixed aperture of F 1.3
and does a maximum digital zoom of 4x when shooting at 1080p and 2x at 4K,
and it can shoot 4K at 30 fps
When it comes to Video Profile, the Mini 3 shoots at Normal.
The Mini 3 has a bitrate of 100 Mbps/H.264 and has a video transmission
support of DJI O2, 720p/30p with a range of 10km.
Mini 3 Pro: The Pro’s sensor shoots at 24 MP and has. a fixed aperture of F 1.3
as well and can zoom digitally 4x at 1080p and 2x in 4K just like the Mini 3 but
unlike it, the Pro can shoot 4K at 60 fps.
The Pro can shoot in Normal Video Profile and as well as D-Cinelike. The DCinelike Profile is a game changer when it comes to professional colour grading
and editing, as it is way more detailed and simply captures more in the same
scenario.

The Pro has a bitrate of 150 Mbps/H.264 and has Video Transmission support of
the new DJI O3 with 1080p/30p with a range of 12km.
The additional Colour profile provided in the Pro version is especially useful
in post-production and can level up your footage by a huge amount. The Pro
also has a better bitrate, video transmission rate and range. This doesn’t
mean that the Mini 3 is mediocre in any terms, it also has splendid video
output and a very useable transmission and bitrate.
If you don’t need to spend hours in the editing room and are ok with a good
user experience then even the Mini 3 is an amazing device.
Obstacle avoiding: DJI has a special technology that allows drones to detect and
avoid obstacles mid-flight called APAS.
Mini 3: No APAS support. Although it does have downward Vision Positioning
Sensors.
Mini 3 Pro: APAS support is given. Along with Downward Vision, it also has
Forward and Backward Positioning sensors.
The Pro is clearly a winner when it comes to avoiding obstacles and making
sure the Drone as well as the footage come out safe, secure and smooth
after a flight.
Flight time:
Mini 3: Has a flight time of 38 mins when shooting at the highest resolution and
51 mins when at the lowest.
Mini 3 Pro: Has a flight time of 34 mins at the highest resolution and 47 mins at
the lowest.
Core Intelligent Functions:
Mini 3: QuickShot
Mini 3 Pro: QuickShot, APAS 4.0, Hyper-lapse, Spotlight 2.0, Point of Interest
3.0 ActiveTrack 4.0 MasterShots

In conclusion,
The DJI Mini 3 is a dialled-down version, positively resembling the Mini 2. Whereas
the Mini 3 Pro, is where the truly significant advancements have been made. The
Mini 3 is quite an amazing device in itself as well, this is because if you are someone
who hasn’t chosen to make a career out of filmmaking and don’t really care about
the nitty-gritty details of diving deep into each caveat of the video, then this one is
perfect for you.
And for those of you who are truly wanting a compact device that can bring justice to
your ideas and provide you with footage from which the most can be extracted, then
the Pro is the right way to go!
