Oversized and re-structured A neutral stripped-bare palette. We imagine a new, hyper-digitalized and advanced world born from the ashes of dystopia. As new Sci-Fi movies like Passengers, Arrival, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets are about to be released, we imagine a game influenced by the new space race. The retro spacewear aesthetic is revived and mixed with ultra modern functional styles. Soft fleeces and lux technical fabrications contrast with mock skins and furs. A neutral palette of dust greys and crater-like tones is paired with soot and teal/black and accented with sharp acid lemon/lime.
ReBUILT
Customised ‘gamer’ graphics mix with motocross style casuals Virtual World brights glow out of vibrant screen navy, Our setting is inside a VR game, where the city continually regenerates itself, morphing and growing in all directions. The style resembles motocross gear with protective patches, and reinforced areas, but is mixed with fitness-influenced body contouring forms. Wearable tech is integrated within garments. Multiple badges and patches are used like the livery. This is a cleaned-up version of the early production shots we’ve seen from the Ready Player One movie. Colour is fresh and sharp, influenced heavily by on-screen bright mixed pinks and luminous green, with the vibrant navy at the core.
ReGROWN
Simple styling where color does the talking ‘Alternative Reality’ new-neutral shades. The warped color reality of the science-fiction game No Man’s Sky provides an inspirational backdrop formed of crystals and liquid metals. Here, we imagine a VR game, where new minerals are grown and collected in a tropical extraterrestrial landscape that is rich in resources and tinted in sunset ray shades. The style is relaxed and softly functional, but basic. The color does the talking. Special surface finishes and optic coatings are mixed with brushed surfaces and cozy fleece. ‘Unreal’ colors are off balanced and mutated, with twisted tones of pastel orange, dirtied pink, fallout yellow and chilblain blue.
ReLOCATED
The eco-conscious group Utility and function are the style as well as the mission. We play with the idea of a new world within, whilst recycling what we can from the old world, a world that is defunct. The dystopian aesthetics of games like Last Guardian or Horizon Zero Dawn inspire this look. The style is functional and workwear-based, but teched-up with patched detailing and blocks of tone-on-tone color contrasts. Transitional weight fabrics and light padding adapt to the changing environment. The color palette is formed from utility-based grey blues and verdigris, with a stronger mossy green that contrasts with russet brick tones.
ReMASTERED
Collective, eclectic & familiar pattern concepts Reconfigured, blended and merged. We look at the fantasy based roleplay game Skyrim and set the scene within a strange, historically inaccurate world with no specific time or place. It is a bit like all the continents in the Game of Thrones world rolled into one. The garments are re-mastered versions of street sports casuals, reworked in vintage influences, using decorative fabrics made functional. Elaborate patterns, tech jacquards and damasks of exotic origins are embellished with ethnic-tech details. A rich color palette is dominated by the brown family tones, blended with khaki and accented by bright jewel tones.
